R12 has strong permeability and is easy to pass through the joint cracks of machinery and equipment, and leak through small holes and threaded joints in castings.
Its impact on the environment: R12 refrigerant belongs to the CFC type Freon, which has a great impact on the global environment. It has a long life when leaked in the atmosphere. ODP and GEP are relatively high, and its life span is as long as 120 years. After being in the earth's atmosphere, its influence can last for several years. When these HCFCs rise into the stratospheric atmosphere of the earth, they can react with the high concentration of ozone there and produce chain catalysis on the attenuation of ozone. A chlorine atom is destroying one ozone molecule and destroying another. If this continues, each atom can destroy about 100,000 ozone molecules, leading to the destruction of the ozone layer. Everyone knows that the ozone layer protects our planet. As it destroys us, we humans also bring disasters. The human body, our industry, and agriculture exacerbate the greenhouse effect. Therefore, it is the first refrigerant to be replaced, which limits the long-term use of R12.
R134a
R134a is a medium temperature and medium pressure refrigerant, all of its properties are very similar to R12, and its heat transfer performance and chemical stability are relatively good. It is flammable, and the refrigeration system and equipment need to be modified less when replacing the CFCs refrigerant, so R134a is currently regarded as the first choice for R12. The requirements for sealing materials are relatively high, and the insulation level of the motor windings of the enclosed refrigeration compressor should be increased.
Impact on the environment: R134a refrigerant belongs to HFCs, has a short life in the atmosphere and has little impact on the global environment. The R134a cooperation process is more complicated and the production cost is relatively high.
